IMMORTALITY

By FRANCIS WAAPERA

A nymph divined I’d live forever
So I wove a bed of wool
And pitched a tent of ice
Waking at night to soulful sighs
Of whimpering petals
I stirred once
The stars blinked twice
Sadly
Tearfully
I saw then the violets had melted

I was dead!

Wow! This is a beautifully composed piece! Surreal and deep too! I love the title and that illustration of a garden’s nothing short of divine! Totally didn’t expect that last line, the seemingly immortal wound up dead! Sad! Kudos to the Poet, you aced this, absolutely!
